Warehouse, Blue Post Yard

A brick built building of two storeys above a semi basement. The Blue Post Yard façade is built in English Garden Wall bond with decorative stringing, lintels and parapets in a different colour brick. The Ship Inn Yard façade is in the same bond but is without the decorative detailing of the front façade. The double pitch roof is covered in slate.

A brick chimney stack is built against the gable of the taller building to the east. The stack is located at the front of the roof on the Blue Post Yard façade. There is a single, square chimney pot. There are two single entrances on the Blue Post Yard façade and none on the Ship Inn Yard façade. The entrances are located at the opposite ends of the building.

Ship Inn Yard façade fenestration: The raised ground floor and first floor both have the same fenestration pattern of three equally sized windows. The windows are wooden with brick lintels and projecting brick sills. Each widow has two fixed panes at the bottom with a vertical pane at the top that opens by swivelling. The fixed portions of the lower ground floor windows are covered with black mesh.

Blue Post Yard façade fenestration: The windows on the raised ground floor and first floor are the same as those in the Ship Inn Yard façade. At the semi basement level there are three single pane windows behind bars. These are aligned with the windows above.

Between the windows, at the western end of the building, are large openings at the raised ground floor and first floor levels. These contain pairs of glazed doors and have shutters. They would have been used for moving material in and out of the building when it was a warehouse. Below them is a small opening into the semi basement, fitted with a wooden panel. Guttering runs along each façade and there is a single, metal down comer on each side of the building.
