War Memorial, Stockton Parish Church
A War Memorial, dedicated to both civilians and soldiers who have died in armed combat. There is one large bronze dedication to victims of World War I and II, and below this are a further three smaller bronze dedications. The monument is constructed of dressed limestone ashlars and mortar, with various additional bronze mouldings. It is roughly oblong in plan, though the main monument stands upon a rectangular plinth constructed of limestone, rising in three steps. The east and west elevations are generally flat with square pillar facades. Within the capitols of these flat pillars is a carved lion gargoyle.
The north and south elevations comprise detached Doric columns, fronting a semi-circular recess in a Greco-Roman design. The roof of the monument is also topped with limestone ashlar comprising combinations of stepped architraves and bronze mouldings (wreaths to the north and south, coats of arms to the east and west), topped with a large bronze torch
