The Sun Inn, Knowles Street
This building is a three storey public house with brick mortar walls and an English bond. The roof is ridged slate and has two chimneys, one in brick and the other in rendered brick. They are transverse and one has three pots. There are two single entrances into the building.
On the ground floor there are five semi arched windows with ornamented glass set into the pub front and tiles under the windows and doors. The first and second floors both have two sash windows each. There is a Sun Inn sign on the front of the building and one of the doors is in a lean to extension. There is a parapet on the gable wall which could possibly have been part of a previously attached house. There are black metal cellar doors set into the pavement.
There is an extension that runs at right angles to the main building. The side of the building is made with rendered brick with a mortar bonding and unknown bond. The roof is slate and possesses two chimneys, one modern with one pot and one older with two pots. The first floor has two casement windows with two panes and the second floor has two large and one small casement window, all with two panes each. The site is surrounded by a brick wall that has some older and some modern sections. To the rear of the building there is a partially rendered brick gable end wall while the north side has a partial, rendered extension. There is one transverse brick chimney with one pot. There appears to be a very large yard or series of outhouses built of old and modern brick and stone.
