Market Cross
This is a market cross built of sandstone and bonded with mortar. There are six steps below the base providing a platform. The base of the cross is an alter that has no inscriptions on the faces.
A doric column forms the main body of the cross and is capped by a smaller stone alter and topped by a sculpted stone torch. The market cross has a predominate position on Stockton High Street being situated directly between the Shambles Market Hall and the Town Hall.
