76 Dovecot Street

A house of two storeys which may has stylistic links to 74 Dovecot Street, the Water Board Offices. Currently apartments. Walls of brick and mortar with English Garden wall coursing of one header to three stretchers. A small amount of rendering appears on the corner of Palmerston St. Hipped slate roof with two transverse brick chimney stack with no pots visible. The stacks have ornamental brickwork. Entrance to Dovecot St, modern UPVC door and pilasters, with wooden brackets to hood over door.

There are two single entrances to Palmerston St. Ground floor windows facing Dovecot Street three bays each with three panels, with brick bases. The bay windows with original wooden frame, now double glazed in UPVC, with central casement window. Ground floor facing Palmerston St, two bay windows of same design as that facing Dovecot St. All bay windows have stone sills painted blue. First floor: Dovecot St has four and Palmerston St three, modern double glazed UPVC units which have brick arches but stone keystone and four projecting courses of brick beneath sills. Other features include prominent string coursing separating ground and first floors. This comprises protruding string course top and bottom separated by a course of vertical bricks. Brick string courses with dentition pattern at eaves level above all first floor windows. Some cast iron drainage pipes on Palmerston St wall but modern plastic piping on Dovecot St wall.
