62 Dovecote Street
Constructed of brick, mortar in English Garden Wall Bond. The roof is hipped. The rear extension has a ridged roof. Material is slate. There are two chimneys on the original building with three pots each, and the one on the extension with a metal pipe. There is one main door on the main elevation at the front projecting forward with a stone door surround and an ornate canopy There is a sign on the front stating “Friends Meeting House” now painted over. The lower bricks are rendered over protrude slightly from the building. Windows. On the ground floor there are four wooden sash windows with 16 panes each and wooden surrounds with small canopies. On the first floor there are five wooden sash windows with 16 panes each and stone surrounds.
On the West side there is one door with a window above to light the stairwell, there is one window in the original and two on the extension with stone lintels and sills. On the first floor there are three similar windows On the East side there are two “lean to” structures separated by a large window On the first floor there is one single window, stone surround which has been bricked in, tow large windows in the extension with stone lintels inserted, each having 16 panes of glass.
On the North side, there is a “lean to” which has covered part of two ground floor windows, this “lean to” has two small metal vents and evidence of two blocked entrances The roof appears to be concrete with a felt covering. It is suspected that this is an “air raid” shelter. The “lean to” to the East has louvered vents and doors in modern brick. The Windows on the North side , there are two large 20 pane windows and two smaller, one x 10 pane and 1 x 8 pane above the air raid shelter. On the upper floor there are four single windows, two with 12 panes and two with 16t panes, stone sills and lintels. One of the lintels appears to be for a double window which has been bricked up.
