46 High Street
Good quality brick building with English bond, roof is slate with lead flashing. Three floors including attic. The main entrance is on the corner between the south and west side and surmounted by a tower with a cupola. The ground floor frontage has large modern windows surrounded by marble ornamentation on the west and south side. On the ground floor there are two small sash windows in the extension on the south. The first floor has six sash windows with three panes with stone sills and surrounds, with a centre quoin stone on the west side. On the south side there are seven large windows similar to those on the west. There are three small sash windows in an extension on the south side.
On the second floor there are three twelve paned sash windows on the west and two on the south. There are three small sash windows on the extension to the south. The circular tower has garlands and shield ornamentation and is either stone or rendered brickwork. The building has a flat roof with a slope to accommodate the dormer windows and two transverse chimneys, one with four pots and one with a single pot. There is a kneeler on the end wall, butting up against number 45. On the high street side it appears that the building has been built in two separate stages, which can be seen at eaves level with a kneeler in the cornice and a slight join in the brickwork.
On the Finkle Street side there is a more modern extension with the small sash windows. The rear of the building in Green Dragon yard is offset behind number 45, the rear of the bank being hidden behind number 4 and 5 Finkle Street. The roof is hipped slate. The wall is brick in English bond, five stretchers to one header with mortar bonding. There is one double door. The ground floor has one casement window with 24 panes. The first floor has what appears to be a former warehouse door, converted into a double window with 24 panes and two wooden panels. The second and third floors both have two casement windows with 16 panes in each. Above the first floor warehouse door is a beam with a hook.
