33 Dovecot Street
This building straddles the corner of Dovecot Street and Prince Regent Street, and the main terrace section of the property is half the size of the other terraces. The reason for this is unknown, but it has been suggested that its small size was so it would fit between a building already present on the corner, where the single storey ‘extension’ is now.
It should be noted, that this corner extension may still have some of the features of the 19th Century building, although it is flat roofed.
The front façade stretches from Dovecot Street face and round to the fire escape entrance of No. 12 Prince Regent Street. The back of the property has a larger extension than the other terraces butting up against the garage sheds of No. 2-8 West Row, with two back alley entrances. Materials used: Early 20th Century brick and a modern stainless steel with ceramic tiles façade with a continuous glass front.
The roof is built of slate tiles. Number of storeys: 2 Fenestration and doorways: The ground floor around from the terrace to the ‘extension’ has been shuttered up, so window number is not known. The first floor has a single window with original sill and lintel, painted white. On the side facing Prince Regent Street is a double entrance allowing entrance to the main building. At the back there is two doors leading into two separate extensions, and the first floor has two long, thin windows that have replaced two original sash windows.
