31 & 33 High Street
This brick building separated on ground floor into two separate businesses, with shop windows and two separate single entrances, one per business. Three storeys in total, with recessed windows on first and second floors from front and left side aspect [facing Silver Street]. The windows to the rear are not recessed, plainer with less decoration, but did have same metal frames as those on the other sides. From the front elevation, we can see four courses of stepped brickwork above the ground floor, making the first floor appear to ‘jut’ out very slightly.
There is ornamental brickwork can be seen, vertical and horizontal – five rows of stretchers between first and second floor. The grouping of the windows and the brickwork gives the appearance of splitting the building into two sections/units: two storeys of a group of three windows on the side of the building designated number 31, and two storeys of group of four windows on the side of the building designated number 33. From the front the roof appears to be made of slate, the same from the rear.
