28 West Row

A large structure combining two properties, originally including the now lost No. 30 West Row, now only visible due to brick variation. The bricks on the right-hand half are older, stretching back to the 18th Century, whereas the left belongs to the 19th century. Sandstone lintels with mock keystones surround each window and door on the front. Beneath the eaves, a brick cornice has been added meeting the base of the roof which has been recently replaced by modern terracotta pantiles. Materials used: 18th & 19th Century brick and mortar with sandstone lintels. The roof is made of modern terracotta pantiles. Number of storeys: 3 Fenestration and doorways: The front, ground floor contains one single entrance which has been out of use for while, having been boarded up with wood. Two sash windows have been built into each floor on the front, with those on the left having metal mesh placed across them, presumably for security reasons. The second floor windows, although occupying the same profile as those beneath, are half the size. It should also be noted that although the side face has not been included, it too has a one single-pane window on the second floor.
