16 West Row

The ground floor windows are shuttered, but comprised of two large pane windows with a double entrance in the centre of the property.

The first and second floor has three six-paned windows. Between them brick protrusions form column-like features running from the gable end to ground level. Each window has a large stone sill and lintel, painted white, and a large beam of concrete and brick. The gable end, facing out onto West Row has a bullet-hole window. The roof verge has moulded brick corbels, in grey, contrasting the red brick beneath, which ends with a stone kneeler at the right hand side. Materials used are mid to late 19th Century brick in English Garden Wall with mortar bonding. The material used on the roof is difficult to interpret, but it is tiled, and probably slate.

There are three storeys, the ground floor windows are shuttered, but comprised of two large pane windows and a double entrance in the centre of the property. The first and second floor has three six-paned windows equally spaced. What is visible of the back, mostly blocked by renovation, are three windows on the second floor with a single entrance, and the first is similar but includes a double entrance instead. There may be two more windows and a double door on the ground floor, but this is uncertain.

A warehouse has been built next door, extending the eternal ground floor warehouse, and it butts up against Maddox’s warehouse, although was probably there a long time before that property was built.
