13 –15 Bridge Road

This building is comprised of three three-storey late nineteenth century properties. Although virtually identical from the front (west) elevation, the two appear to have been built separately, as the rear (east) walls are not keyed into each other. Brick built in English garden wall bond, the west elevation is painted, whilst the east elevation shows that both are of red brick (those of No 13 being darker). There is a central transverse chimney stack of buff brick with dentilated string course. There are six large octagonal pots (all to No 15). There are modern flat roofed shop frontages projecting forward of the ground floor west elevation. The shop frontage to No 15 retains elements of its original late nineteenth or early twentieth century shop front with pilasters resting on stone plinths and one floriated corbel to the centre between the properties.

There is modern illuminated signage to No 15. There are timber bay windows to the first floor west elevation. The bay to No 15 has single pane of glass with advertising. Both bays have flat timber roofs. There is a modern light UPVc window to second floor of 13. Two vertical timber sash windows to second floor of No 15, separated by brick column. The windows have stone sills and decorative carved lintels. There is a saw tooth course of bricks below the eaves. There is a pitched roof of slate to No 13 (continuous with No 11) and tiled to No 15. There are plain eaves to east elevation of properties.

Black rainwater goods and vented soil pipes are evident. The rear extension to back of Castle House, 11 Bridge Street (see record S23) partially overlaps with No 13. There is a two storey projecting rear wing to No 15, with mono-pitch tiled roof (abutting up against No 17 (T05). There are five modern small windows and two larger windows behind railings to north elevation of rear wing. Flat roofed extensions are evident between Nos 13 & 15 (lower to No 13). There is a steel double door to rear of No 13. There is a modern UPVc door to the rear of No 15. There is a single steel door to ground floor of rear two storey wing. There is a window formed of glass blocks in ground floor of two storey rear wing, between doorways. There is externally illuminated and temporary signage to the east elevation of No 15. There is a large rectangular extractor flue from kitchens to rear of No 15 (from single storey extension to above line of the eaves).
