106 High Street
A three storey plus dormer brick building. Brickwork is English bond 3+1. Two identical faces of the building have pedimented dormers with small openings (ventilation?). Ornamental plaques on these faces state it was rebuilt in 1912, Tees House, Stewarts Clothiers. On the north side is what appears to be an “extension” to the building with smaller dormer style pediments. These are repeated on south side, but only visible from aerial views. There are a number of string courses around the east and north faces. The slate roof has a parapet on the ridges. There are three gabled dormers. There is one chimney near the north west corner, this is brick and of square section with a metal vent and ornamental stone top with cornice. Windows & doors: East side: The ground floor has a large plate glass window with the double door angled across the north east corner. The first floor has two large windows with 3 small panes above one large. The second floor has two large windows with Gibbs style surrounds and stone mullions separating the four panes with stone sills. West side: The ground floor has a large plate glass window extending along part of the “extension”. There are two single doors in the “extension”. The first floor has two large windows with 3 small panes above one large and in the “extension” two large windows with Gibbs style surrounds and stone mullions separating the four panes with stone sills. The second floor has two large windows with Gibbs style surrounds and stone mullions separating the four panes and in the “extension” two large windows with Gibbs style surrounds and stone mullions separating the four panes with stone sills. At the rear of the extension at first floor level are two small mullioned windows with a stone panel above. The window above straddles part of First and second floors, suggesting a staircase. This is of Gibbs style surrounds and stone mullions separating the four panes and a stone pediment above. East side: There are two small windows with two panes between first and second floors. Also there is signs of a previous door.
