1 Yarm lane/ 2 Bridge Street
A three storied building occupying a corner plot. Map research indicates that this building is an amalgamation of four buildings. It is not possible to see any signs of this from the front elevation. The building appears as if the front has been extended and it protrudes in front of the neighbouring building. On historical maps the, buildings are shown to be in line with one another. The walls on the front elevation are of brick and mortar, bonded by English garden wall. The roof is hipped and covered in slate. There does not appear to be any living space. Decorative stone work borders the edge of the building in a stepped fashion.
On the ground floor on this elevation, there is one single door and five square windows. Above this door and the windows are six semi-circular windows. The brick work surmounting these creates an arch, and they are paired together. This brickwork and windows appear to be of a much later date to the rest of the elevation.
The first and second floors are identical in appearance. They consist of six sash windows with ornamental lintels. To the side elevation there is one single door and three square windows. Above these are four semi circular windows, these two are paired together to create two double arches in the same fashion as those to the front elevation. The first and second floors are identical. They consist of four sash windows with ornamental lintels. This elevation also has decorative stone borders in the same fashion as those to the front elevation. The roof from this view is half hipped, covered in slate and on the far right there is a brick chimney stack with no pots. According to the OS map there should be a benchmark present, this is not visible.
