1-3 Macmillan Chambers, Prince Regent Street

The building is built of late 19th Century brick and mortar covered heavily in grey render. The only evidence of the brick construction is a small plinth-like band of brick left un-rendered around the back into the alley. This building was originally two separate buildings with an alley between where the solicitors and hairdressers are now. This alley has since been bricked up and absorbed to create one property.

The downstairs are occupied by businesses, but the first and second floor are used for living space. The roof is a shallow gable with reproduction slate tiles and v-type rides. The window lintel and sills are all that remain of the original fenestration, which is now double-glazed. It should be noted that a small row of 19th Century stretchers has been left un-rendered around part of the property just beneath the eaves. It begins at the corner and ends where the alley used to be, divided only by the lintels of the second floor windows. Also directly beneath the eaves are several wooden roof brackets, or rafters, protruding, all painted black. Materials used: 19th Century brick and grey render. Modern wooden shop facades on the ground floor, and modern tiles on the gable roof.

Number of storeys: three Fenestration and doorways: The ground floor has four single entrances facing onto Prince Regent Street, there is approximately ten windows spanning the length of this floor of varying shapes and sizes. The first and second floor have six upvc sash windows facing the front and another one around the side facing into Ramsgate.
