1 & 2 Regent Mews

This is an end property to what is a selection of small, newly refurbished 19th Century terraced houses aptly named ‘Regent Mews’, and as such is essentially one building from 1 – 6. Although using 19th Century bricks, they are not original to the structure, and a two-storey extension, not originally part of the building’s floor-plan, has been included on the back of each, incorporating a back entrance into a private yard shared by all six shops.

This end section of the terrace has been given a raking parapet on its gable end, again using 19th Century bricks, but the rest of the property, although an attempt has been made to reproduce the original look, the other feature are all made of modern materials including the mock slate tiles, guttering and ‘wooden’ framed windows with concrete sills, also a need for a chimney has gone, and as such, has not been replaced. Materials used: 19th Century brick and rendered concrete sills, with wooden framed windows and shop façade, as well as reproduction slate tiles of an unknown material; most likely recycled rubber tiles.

Fenestration and doorways: A single door has been built into each house. So this record comprises of two, although the function of a single owner remains. Between these entrances two large wooden astragals with small panes exists, with two smaller sash versions on the first floor front. On the annex extension to the back of the house, a further single door to each property and small window to each floor and face of the extension.
