1 &2 Bishopton Lane and 3 Norton Road

This is a rendered brick building of three stories with a curved frontage. There are painted quoin stones on either corner. The roof is tiled of a curved ridge type.

On the first floor there is a double four pane sash window with a single two pane sash window either side of this window. There is another double four pane sash window. Each have no visible lintel. This is repeated on the corner and there is a double four pane sash window around the corner on Norton Road. The pattern is repeated on the second floor. There is a stringer course below the first and second floor windows at sill level.

There is an eaves cornice which appears to change after the first set of four windows on Bishopton Lane, this may just be damage. The name Maxwell’s Corner is painted between first and second floor levels. There are two rearward three storey extensions to the building with ridge roofs at right angles to the main building. The visible part shows a sash window at second floor level and a single storey extension further back with a casement window. Rear access is difficult and is by a long narrow alley paved with Scoria blocks.
