Frank Wilson

Frank Wilson was born in the 1950s. He spent his early years in Trimdon and he has lived in that area all his life. He currently resides in Sedgefield.

The Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF) was established, by Frank, in 1988 and, as Artistic Director, he has been its driving force for 25 years. SIRF is internationally renowned for its programming; it is the best, established street theatre festival in Britain and has been Stockton's flagship event for many years. SIRF has a worldwide reputation for quality and there is no doubt that the festival has raised the profile of Stockton regionally, nationally and internationally.

Frank Wilson's importance to SIRF and the key role he has played in making it the success it has been can be in no doubt and in recognition of this the Council formally invested him into the Hall of Fame on Thursday 02 August 2012.

In 2015 Frank Wilson was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List “for services to Festival Arts in the North-East.”
